Regulation implementing enhanced cooperation on the establishment of the Ukraine Support Loan for 2026 and 2027
This vote is about an EU loan to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, granted by a group of member states.
Background
At the end of 2025, EU leaders decided to grant Ukraine a €90 billion loan for 2026 and 2027, to fund its budget and its defence against Russia. As Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic do not take part, the loan goes through “enhanced cooperation” among the other countries.
- The money is borrowed by the EU on financial markets.
- It funds both the military effort and the running of the Ukrainian state.
- This vote is on one of the texts setting up the loan.
