Psychosocial risks, stress and mental health at work
This vote is about stress, psychosocial risks and mental health at work.
Background
Stress, burnout and harassment at work are “psychosocial risks”. According to the International Labour Organization, more than 840,000 people die each year from related health problems. With this own-initiative report, prepared by Belgian MEP Estelle Ceulemans (S&D), Parliament asks the Commission to propose an EU law.
- It would oblige employers to regularly assess these risks, notably excessive workload, and to adopt action plans.
- It provides for policies against violence, harassment and discrimination, reaffirms the right to disconnect and calls for human oversight of algorithmic management tools.
- It provides for individual return-to-work plans after an absence linked to these risks. The Commission has three months to respond.
