This vote is about EU support for workers laid off by the Cora company in Belgium.
Background
The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) helps workers laid off in large closures. The Cora hypermarket chain closed its stores in Wallonia at the end of 2025. Belgium asked for support from the fund for some 1,010 former workers of Cora and one of its suppliers.
- Releases €3,821,460 from the EU budget.
- Pays for career guidance, skills certification, tailored training and support for starting a business.
- Parliament and the Council must both approve each use of the fund.
Adopted: 605 for, 56 against, 7 abstentions, 51 did not vote.
