Programme for agile and rapid defence innovation (AGILE)
This vote is about an EU programme to fund defence innovation quickly (AGILE).
Background
AGILE is a pilot programme proposed by the Commission in March 2026 to speed up defence innovation. The idea is to let start-ups and SMEs quickly develop and bring to market new military technologies such as artificial intelligence and drones.
- A budget of €115 million, for 20 to 30 projects from 2027.
- Simplified procedures: funding decisions within four months, deployment within one to three years.
- Access for small companies to test centres and partnerships with large defence groups.
Rejected: 83 for, 540 against, 24 abstentions, 72 did not vote.
