Escalation of Russian strikes in the EU, particularly on Black Sea shipping, threatening human life, regional stability and food security
This vote is about Russian strikes affecting the EU, notably ships in the Black Sea, and the risks to human life and food security.
Background
Russia has stepped up its strikes in the Black Sea, which affect commercial shipping and threaten EU countries on its shores, such as Romania and Bulgaria, as well as farm exports passing through the sea. Following a plenary debate with High Representative Kaja Kallas, Parliament adopted a resolution setting out its political position, which is not legally binding.
- Strongly condemns the escalation of Russia’s war against Ukraine in the Black Sea.
- Criticises the Bulgarian government’s response to the Russian threat as too weak.
- Calls for more EU support to Romania and Bulgaria for the early detection and tracking of hostile drones.
